Dr. John  Omachonu

Superior Evangelist (Dr.) Omachonu is a ranking member of the Celestial Church of Christ, USA. Arriving in Washington, DC in August 1975, he was reunited with a small but familiar group of CCC members he first met in Nigeria, who had been in the US since 1972. He left the DC area in August 1975 to study at the American International College, Springfield, MA until 1977 when he returned permanently to the DC area. He was appointed secretary of the DC Parish in 1977, a position he held until 1986. Meanwhile, in 1980, the DC church landed its first permanent sanctuary space on 7 th . Street, NW, Washington, DC. Later, from 1989-1991, Omachonu, at the direction of the late Pastor A.A. Bada, held the position of leader-in-charge of the DC Parish (now located on Gallatin Street, Maryland). Dr. Omachonu and his family remained in the DC area until 1991 before moving to the State of Florida for his first post-doctoral teaching assignment. Today, Dr. Omachonu travels frequently throughout the US in fulfilling his calling to preach, teach, and make disciples. He is affiliated with several ecumenical and religious organizations including, but not limited to, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and the Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. Professionally, Omachonu, who holds a PHD in Mass Communications and Policy from Howard University (1990), Washington, DC, is a professor in his discipline of Mass Communications and an academic administrator in higher education.Dr. Omachonu is married to M/C (Dr.) Mrs. Florence Omachonu, a professor in the discipline of Education. Together, they have four children and a grandson, and maintain a family home in Tennessee.
